Day 1: Getting Lost in the Stone Forest of Zhangjiajie

On my first day in Zhangjiajie, I kicked off my adventure by exploring Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. To avoid the crowds, I woke up early and arrived at the park right when it opened at 7 AM.

It's best to book your entrance and cable car tickets in advance, so you can simply scan your passport and head straight in upon arrival. I stayed in Wulingyuan, just a 5-minute walk from the East Gate.

Once inside the park, I had two options: take the cable car or the Bailong Elevator. I opted for the cable car first, and about 25 minutes later, I reached the top station for breathtaking views.

Day 2: Conquering Tianmen Mountain

On the second day, I set my sights on Tianmen Mountain, famous for its surreal landscapes reminiscent of scenes from the movie Avatar. To avoid getting lost, I dedicated the entire day to exploring every corner of this majestic mountain.

I started at Helong Park, which offers some of the best viewpoints. The Emperor Pen Peak and the Fairy Tanshan Mountain are must-visit spots, especially in the early morning when the sunlight creates an enchanting atmosphere.

Day 3: A Night in Fenghuang Ancient Town

On my final day, I made my way to Fenghuang, an ancient town nestled along a picturesque river. As night fell, the vibrant red lanterns illuminated the streets, creating a mysterious and romantic ambiance.

Here, I strolled through the bustling streets, savored the local cuisine, and delved into the rich culture of the indigenous people.

Things to Know Before Visiting Zhangjiajie

When is the best time to visit Zhangjiajie? The ideal time is during the autumn months from September to November when the weather is pleasant and the scenery is breathtaking.

Entrance tickets to the park are around 245 yuan, while the Tianmen Mountain cable car ticket costs 258 yuan. If you're looking to save some money, consider walking or using the internal bus service.

Getting Around Zhangjiajie

To reach Zhangjiajie, you can fly from major cities like Beijing or Shanghai. From the airport, take a taxi or rent a car to get to the attractions.

Once inside the park, the internal bus system makes it easy to navigate between different areas. However, if you don’t mind walking, it's a delightful way to discover hidden gems.

My three-day trip in Zhangjiajie was absolutely amazing, and I believe anyone who loves magnificent nature should visit this place at least once.
