Kickstarting My Journey in Hong Kong

This Lunar New Year, I decided to grab my backpack and spend five days in Hong Kong. This city has always captivated me with its blend of traditional and modern culture. Upon arrival, I began my exploration of Hong Kong's most exciting attractions without feeling rushed at all.

Day 1: Discovering Tsim Sha Tsui

On my first day, I visited Tsim Sha Tsui, a bustling shopping district filled with a variety of casual eateries and interesting shops lining the vibrant Nathan Road. This area is also close to many famous landmarks, making it an ideal starting point for my trip.

I strolled along the Avenue of Stars, a famous promenade by the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, which celebrates Hong Kong's film industry with handprints of renowned stars, including the iconic Bruce Lee statue. Standing here, I could really feel the evolution of Hong Kong's film industry.

There are plenty of museums in the area, such as the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and the Hong Kong Space Museum. If you still have some time, I highly recommend visiting the Hong Kong Museum of History, which offers great insights into the city’s formation and development.

Lunchtime brought me to Kai Kee Noodles, where their famous noodles did not disappoint. After a satisfying meal, I continued to explore the area before returning to the Avenue of Stars to catch the sunset. The nighttime view of Hong Kong is truly magical with its sparkling lights.

To wrap up my first day, I tried the fish ball noodles at Aberdeen Fish Ball King, which were absolutely delicious and a must-try!

Day 2: Exploring Wong Tai Sin

On the second day, I dedicated my time to exploring the more peaceful areas of Hong Kong. I started with a leisurely walk through Nan Lian Garden, a stunning traditional Chinese garden adorned with ancient temples located in Wong Tai Sin. This place offered a serene atmosphere, a stark contrast to the bustling city life.

After relaxing in the garden, I headed to the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple, one of the largest and most famous temples in the area. I enjoyed admiring the classic architecture and soaking in the festive atmosphere, where people come to pray for health and prosperity.

Nearby, there’s a shopping center where I stopped for lunch. Later, I decided to explore Kowloon Walled City Park, a site that was once notorious for illegal activities but has now been transformed into a beautiful park perfect for walking and enjoying fresh air.

I discovered many fascinating historical remnants here, from the old south gate to the remains of watchtowers. The paintings and models help paint a picture of life inside Kowloon Walled City.

Day 3: Hiking Victoria Peak or Trekking in Hong Kong

On the third day, I decided to hike up to Victoria Peak for breathtaking views of the city. The trail was steep, but the stunning scenery made the effort worthwhile. From the top, I could see the beauty of Hong Kong laid out like a magnificent painting.

If hiking isn’t your thing, you can opt for trekking around the area, discovering many interesting spots without jostling through crowds. The small trails lead to beautiful beaches and lush parks where you can unwind and connect with nature.

Day 4: A Day at the Tian Tan Buddha

The next day, I visited the Tian Tan Buddha. To get there, I took the subway followed by a cable car ride, and the views from above were spectacular! The Big Buddha is truly a wonder, radiating a sense of peace and tranquility. I spent a lot of time admiring and taking photos.

When you’re here, don’t forget to visit the nearby temples and gardens, which feature vibrant artwork that reflects the unique Buddhist culture of Hong Kong.

Day 5: A Visit to Disneyland or a Leisurely Photo Walk

On my final day, I decided to visit Disneyland. The experience in this amusement park was absolutely delightful! I met my favorite Disney characters and enjoyed a variety of fun rides. If Disneyland isn’t on your agenda, you can also spend your time wandering around and capturing beautiful photos at various urban spots.

Returning to my hotel, I felt that this trip had truly enriched my life. Hong Kong offered me unforgettable experiences.
