Discover Fiji, a paradise for island hopping with three luxurious Marriott resorts. Immerse yourself in the local culture, cuisine, and thrilling activities.
Beginning Your Fiji Journey
As you step into the hotel lobby in Fiji, it feels like you’ve entered a paradise filled with warm smiles and the friendly demeanor of the staff. They walk barefoot, strum ukuleles, and often wear flowers in their hair — all contributing to a relaxed atmosphere the moment you arrive. Before coming to Fiji, my knowledge of this nation was mostly limited to vibrant images of pristine beaches and tales of the reality show "Survivor" filmed in Mamanuca. However, as I explored, I quickly realized that Fiji is the perfect destination for island hopping, boasting over 330 islands to discover.
Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay: A Couple’s Retreat
We arrived in Fiji on a direct flight from LAX early in the morning, then traveled through the hills of dormant volcanoes to Momi Bay. This resort stands out with its overwater bungalows — the only exclusive resort of its kind in Fiji. The bungalows are cleverly designed, giving guests the sensation of looking out over a private lagoon. Visitors come here not only to unwind but also to engage in cultural activities like the kava ceremony, which brings a sense of peace and relaxation to those who partake. Additionally, the resort offers various outdoor activities such as morning yoga, snorkeling, fishing, and kayaking, ideal for adventure seekers.
A Stay at Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island
Transitioning to the Sheraton Resort & Spa on Tokoriki Island is an exciting experience. We took a private boat through gentle waves as Momi Bay faded from view. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the fresh air and the untouched beauty of the island. Unlike Momi Bay, which is at sea level, Sheraton Tokoriki is perched higher, allowing guests to enjoy panoramic views of the Mamanuca archipelago. Here, you can dive into activities like snorkeling, join a jet-ski tour, or simply relax by the resort’s infinity pool.

Distinctive Cuisine in Fiji
The food in Fiji is heavily influenced by various cultures, including Melanesian, Polynesian, Indian, and Chinese. Goji Kitchen & Bar serves up fantastic fusion dishes, while the Fish Bar is renowned for its Salt Menu, where each dish is paired with a special type of salt. If you’re looking to savor traditional fare, don’t miss kokoda — a Fijian-style ceviche that quickly became one of my favorites during the trip.
Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers
To enter Fiji, Vietnamese citizens need to apply for a visa before traveling. You can apply online or through the Fiji Embassy in Hanoi. Flight tickets from Vietnam to Fiji typically start at around 15 million VND, with direct or connecting flights taking anywhere from 12 to 20 hours depending on layovers. The currency in Fiji is the Fijian dollar (FJD), with an exchange rate of about 1 FJD = 11,000 VND. Additionally, the best time to visit Fiji is from May to October, when the weather is cooler and there's less rain.
Conclusion
Fiji truly is a paradise for those who love exploring and connecting with nature. The two resorts I experienced not only provided relaxation but also an opportunity to learn about the local culture and people. If you’re searching for a romantic getaway or an exciting adventure, Fiji is undoubtedly a destination that exceeds expectations.
